At Flemington in Melbourne, Emirates Park Stud stallion Al Maher (Danehill-Show Dancing, by Don't Say Halo) added a Group success when 3YO filly Badawiya (Al Maher-Sayuri San, by Fuji Kiseki) scored by 2.25-lengths for trainer Mick Price in the $200,000 Gr2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Don't Doubt Mamma (Not a Single Doubt-Coconut Mamma, by Fantastic Light) & Egypt (Sebring-Bashaayer, by High Yield). A homebred for Sheikh Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Badawiya took her record to 4 wins (including the Gr2 MRC Edward Manifold Stakes) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 MRC Thousand Guineas) from 8 starts for $328,775 earnings.
