Price Colts Work Reverse Direction
Victorian trainer Mick Price has declared his leading Golden Slipper fancies Extreme Choice and Flying Artie to be right on target for next week's $3.5 million juvenile feature after the pair worked the clockwise direction yesterday morning, reports Racing.com. Extreme Choice ($2.80) and Flying Artie ($6) occupy the top two positions in Slipper betting after they dominated their rivals finishing first and second respectively in the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) last month. "I think they're both pretty good," Price told Melbourne's Radio Sport National yesterday. "They had a bit of a practice go on Saturday morning - that was a medium gallop, but I wanted practice for this morning." He added: "Flying Artie's pretty good that way of going. Extreme Choice has been that way, handled that way, and not much goes wrong with him." Price is confident his star colts have the measure of their northern rivals. "The Sydney two-year-olds are a bit open. You don't have any dominant horse," Price said. "Gai's horse [Kiss And Make Up] looks like it's coming into the race at the right time, and is nice and tough and hard." He added: "I think the turn of foot up the straight might sort a few of them out. My two colts are that type of horse - they both have a good turn of foot."
