Ghisoni Likely To Run In Gr1 Coolmore Classic

Friday, 4th March 2016

Lonhro's exciting 3YO daughter Ghisoni (Lonhro-Portillo, by Red Ransom) will be thrown into the deep end by Godolphin trainer John O'Shea when she contests the Gr1 Coolmore Classic. Winning the Gr2 Surround Stakes (also won by her beautifully bred dam) at just her third start last weekend, the undefeated filly has been set to carry 50kg in the top class event for fillies and mares. According to horseracing.com.au, that's a weight that might just be too good to pass up for O'Shea, even though it's not his preferred option. "She is a Gr2 winner and the opportunity to run her in a Gr1 with 50 kilos doesn't come around that often." If she runs, Ghisoni will be ridden by Corey Brown, who will fly from Singapore to take the ride.
