Fasig-Tipton 2YOs: Sale Off To A Flyer
The first North American sale of 2YOs for 2016 started in fine style on Wednesday. Pinhooker Cary Frommer scored a pinch-hit early on with Lot 5 – just the third horse through the ring – when the Uncle Mo-Five Star Dream colt sold for US$1 million to a partnership between Stonestreet and Coolmore's MV Magnier. According to thoroughbreddailynews.com, Frommer had purchased the colt for just US$90,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Yearling Sale in Maryland. With US Champion 2YO Nyquist (Uncle Mo) on people's minds, a good profit looked likely. Other US$1 million buys for the session included colts by Curlin (bought by Pride Of Dubai's owner) & Pioneerof The Nile. Topping the session at US1.8 million was a Tapit colt that was passed-in for US$1.2 million last year at Keeneland. The new owners include Lane's End, Woodford and Robert La Penta.
