Friday, 27th November 2015

Talented mare Najoom ((Northern Meteor-Charlety Star, by Arena) has been retired and confirmed in foal to exciting young sire I Am Invincible, reports AAP. The daughter of Northern Meteor was being aimed at the Gr1 Myer Classic (1600m) in the spring but suffered an undisclosed training mishap and was retired. Najoom, who is owned by Emirates Park and hails from the family of multiple Gr1 winner Criterion, won 5 of her 7 starts including the Gr3 Hawkesbury Guineas and Gr3 Fred Best Classic in Brisbane for over $250,000 prize money. The Yarraman Park Stud-based I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) has been one of the real stallion finds of the past few seasons producing nine individual stakes winners hitherto, including Gr1 Newmarket Handicap and Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winning sprinter Brazen Beau. The son of Invincible Spirit has covered an outstanding book of mares this spring including Gr1 winners Secret Admirer, Atlantic Jewel's three-quarter sister Commanding Jewel, Peggy Jean, Aloha and Hurtle Myrtle, plus Black Caviar's half-sister Bell Couture.
