Power Trip Wins Gr3 Maribyrnong Plate

At Flemington in Melbourne, Gr1-winning Darley shuttler & 2007 Gr1 Kentucky Derby runner-up Hard Spun (Danzig-Turkish Tryst, by Turkoman) added a Group success when 2YO gelding Power Trip (Hard Spun-Rada, by Royal Academy) scored by 0.1-length for trainer John McArdle in the $150,000 Gr3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) for 2YOs, over 2YO colt Flying Artie (Artie Schiller-Flying Ruby, by Rubiton) & 2YO filly Gloriette (Lonhro-Viennese, by Redoute's Choice). This was a promising debut by Power Trip who took his record to 1 win from 1 start for $91,500 earnings. Power Trip was a $42,000 purchase by Redgum Racing at the 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Fulmen Park.
