Rupee Impresses In Jump-Out

Wednesday, 30th September 2015

Star sprinter Lankan Rupee (Redoute's Choice-Estelle Collection, by Stravinsky) has impressed trainer Mick Price in a jump-out on his home track at Caulfield yesterday morning. The 5-time Gr1 winner, who has not raced since being well beaten in the Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick in April, will be restricted to a three-run campaign comprising the Gr2 Schillaci Stakes (1100m) on 10 October (Caulfield Guineas day), the Gr1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on 24 October, and the Gr1 Darley Classic (1200m) at Flemington on 7 November. "He went super," Price told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. "He had plenty up his sleeve, they were on the inside grass. He bounced, and he was up there. Craig [regular jockey Craig Newitt] was happy with him." He added: "He's reasonably fit. I probably had him a little bit more forward for the Lightning but the Schillaci is not until Saturday-week," Price said, referring to Lankan Rupee's most recent victory in the Gr1 Lightning Stakes in February. "I may be able to take him to the races at Caulfield on Saturday, and give him a little gallop between races."
