Cobalt Trainers Issued Show Cause Notices
The five Victorian trainers at the centre of the cobalt saga face the prospect of missing the Spring carnival after they were issued with show-cause notices by Racing Victoria stewards on Friday, reports Racing.com. Peter Moody, Danny O'Brien, Mark Kavanagh and father-son team Lee and Shannon Hope must front Racing Victoria stewards on Wednesday to explain why their licenses should not be suspended pending the hearing of charges later in the year. The five trainers are collectively facing 32 charges relating to the administration of a prohibited substance (cobalt) to horses in their care. The Hopes are the only trainers to have had a date scheduled for their hearing - October 15, 16 and 19 - while the remaining three are expected to find out when their hearings will be heard in coming weeks.
