Western Hymn Wins Gr3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes
At Sandown in the UK, Coolmore's deceased dual Derby-winning shuttler & 6-time Gr1 victor High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells-Kasora, by Dashaan) added a Group success when talented 4YO gelding Western Hymn (High Chaparral-Blue Rhapsody, by Cape Cross) scored by a head for trainer John Gosden in the Gr3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes (10 furlongs) for 4YO+, over 5YO entire Arab Spring (Monsun-Spring Symphony, by Darshaan) & 6YO gelding Niceofyoutotellme (Hernando-Swain's Gold, by Swain). The highly promising Western Hymn took his record to 6 wins (including the Gr2 Prix Eugene Adam & Gr3 Gordon Richards Stakes) from 9 starts for 296,335 earnings. The race also featured the return to racing of Western Hymn's exciting stable-mate Eagle Top, who was having his first start in 306 days since finishing fourth in the Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes behind Taghrooda. Trainer John Gosden was delighted with both horses, telling Racing Post: "It was a grand performance and I was particularly pleased with Eagle Top who wants cover in a big field. He goes for the Hardwicke and it's the Prince of Wales's for Western Hymn."
