Shinn Keeps The Faith With Lily After Barrier Draw
Meanwhile, jockey Blake Shinn says he is not worried that Bohemian Lily (O'Reilly-Bohemian Blues, by Blues Traveller) has drawn an outside gate for Saturday's Gr1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) at Doomben, reports horseracing.com.au. The Gai Waterhouse-trained filly, who scored a dominant front-running victory in the traditional Oaks lead-up, the Gr2 The Roses, at the same track last weekend, has drawn awkwardly in barrier 20 in the field of sixteen plus five emergencies but Shinn is unfazed. "Not perturbed by Bohemian Lilly's barrier 20 in the Oaks. She's got tactical speed, amazing stamina & the ability to just keep running!," Shinn tweeted. Shinn has been aboard the New Zealand-bred filly three times for two wins and a second, and says the O'Reilly filly just keeps improving with each run. "Every time she runs she makes great improvements and a little bit further in distance will be just to her liking," Shinn said. "All along she has been set for the Oaks. I couldn't be happier with her.'' Bohemian Lily certainly has the pedigree to be a Classic contender. Owned by Kevin Hickman and raced in the same colours as star Kiwi mare Silent Achiever, she is a full-sister to Australian Guineas & Australian Derby winner Shamrocker and a half-sister to Gr1 Auckland Cup winner Rock Diva (Lucky Unicorn).
