Dettori To Partner Chrome In Gallop

Thursday, 28th May 2015

Frankie Dettori is set to partner US Horse of the Year California Chrome in a track gallop at Ascot next week as he prepares for the Gr1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes on 17 June, reports Sky Sports. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner is preparing for his Royal Ascot appearance at Rae Guest's stables in Newmarket. Trainer Art Sherman's son, Alan, is set to fly in from the US next week. "California Chrome's progress continues with the start of Royal Ascot less than three weeks away," reported Guest's website. "Rae is very happy with his work, he has been making use of Newmarket's watered gallop in recent weeks. This gallop runs adjacent to Newmarket's famous Rowley Mile racecourse." It added: "Alan Sherman flies over on June 2 to check on Chrome's progress and the imminent plan is to go to Ascot for a racecourse gallop on June 4 or 5. Frankie Dettori will ride him in his gallop there as long as his existing commitments allow."
