Waller Happy With Oaks Duo

Tuesday, 26th May 2015

Chris Waller says he is confident of winning Saturday's Queensland Oaks despite Bohemian Lily's impressive victory in the Gr2 The Roses on the weekend, reports the Courier Mail. The Rosehill trainer decided to withdraw High Chaparral filly Ballet Suite from Saturday's traditional Oaks lead-up preferring to keep her up to the mark with a track gallop at the Gold Coast instead, while his other Oaks contender, Winx, was resting up in her box after rounding out her classic prep with a stunning win in the Gr3 Sunshine Coast Guineas. Waller concedes that the Gai Waterhouse-trained Bohemian Lily will be tough to beat on Saturday, but believes his two charges have had perfect preparations for the race. "I wouldn't swap Winx or Ballet Suite for anything else in the Oaks,'' Waller said. ''Queensland racing in winter promotes the new generation of horses and hopefully one of my fillies is the next horse to talk about for the Spring." He added: "Bohemian Lily adds some extra spice in the Oaks but that is what racing is all about. 'I couldn't be happier with my fillies. Both my horses have got a great grounding for The Oaks and I couldn't be more confident.''
