Pleascach Wins Gr1 Irish 1,000 Guineas
At the Curragh in Ireland, unbeaten European Champion juvenile & dual Gr1-winning Darley shuttler Teofilo (Galileo-Speirbhean, by Danehill) celebrated a Gr1 success when 3YO filly Pleascach (Teofilo-Toirneach, by Thunder Gulch) scored by 0.5-length for trainer Jim Bolger in the Gr1 Irish 1,000 Guineas (8 furlongs) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Found (Galileo-Red Evie, by Intikhab) & Devonshire (Fast Company-Nova Tor, by Trans Island). Pleascach took her record to 3 wins (including the Gr3 Blue Wind Stakes) and 1 placing from 5 starts for €249,785 earnings. Trainer Jim Bolger, who bred and owns Pleascach, said he was keen to take on the boys in the Irish Derby. "She will go for the Irish Derby and then the Oaks after that. Entering her in the Derby wasn't so much what I thought about her, it was really what I thought about the colts, with all due respect to our neighbours," he told Sky Sports. "We think she's very good, she's right on that level with the colts. I bred the filly, her sire and the dam of the sire." He added, "She's explosive, just like her name [English translation of Pleascach]."
