Lumosty Wins Listed The Straight Six
At Flemington in Melbourne, Coolmore's Gr1-winning son of Danehill Fastnet Rock (Danehill-Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) added a black-type success when 3YO filly Lumosty (Fastnet Rock-Luminous Eyes, by Bachelor Duke) scored a comfortable 2.75-length win for trainer Robert Smerdon in the $175,000 Listed The Straight Six (1200m) for 3YO+, over 7YO gelding Le Bonsir (Choisir-La Bella Dame, by Royal Academy) & 6YO gelding Reparations (Exceed and Excel-Hold to Ransom, by Red Ransom). Lumosty took her record to 4 wins (including the Gr2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic) & 3 placings (including the Gr3 Blue Diamond Prelude (f) & Listed Cap D'Antibes Stakes) from 9 starts for $340,700 earnings. Owned by Phil Sly and Japan's Katsumi Yoshida, Lumosty was a $180,000 purchase for Flemington Bloodstock agency at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Coolmore Stud. Lumosty, who races in the same colours as multiple Gr1 winner Mosheen, descends from the family of outstanding racehorse Pilsudski, winner of the Japan Cup, Breeders' Cup Turf & Irish Champion Stakes, among others, as well as dual Japanese Gr1 winner Fine Motion. Lumosty will now head to Queensland for the $2 million Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) on 6 June.
