Munce Searching For Maiden Group Win

Friday, 22nd May 2015

Former champion jockey Chris Munce is hoping that talented 2YO Wicked Intent can provide him with his first Group win as a trainer in tomorrow's Gr2 Sires Produce Stakes (1350m) at Doomben, reports horseracing.com.au. "I'm sure that he will put his all in," Munce told RSNs Racing Ahead yesterday. "He seems to be going well and he is doing everything right." He added, "The horses that I have run in anything sort of Group race have all been very competitive and probably a bit unlucky on a couple of occasions, so it would be good if he could crack it there on Saturday." Munce has some ambitious plans for Wicked Intent, which includes a start in the Gr1 JJ Atkins (1600m) at Doomben on 6 June and the spring carnival later in the year. "If he runs as well as I hope he will and he comes through it unscathed then there is no reason not to," Munce said. "If he happens to fail and he doesn't perform up to expectations then we will have to reassess things and look at where we go after that." Wicked Intent will be ridden by Damian Browne and will jump from barrier 14 on Saturday.
