Zenyatta Sons In Training

Wednesday, 20th May 2015

Ziconic, the unraced second foal of 2010 US Horse of the Year Zenyatta, has joined his older half brother Cozmic One in the Belmont Park barn of trainer John Sherriffs, reports Blood Horse. According to the official Zenyatta website, zenyatta.com, the 2YO son of leading North American sire Tapit recently completed pre-training at Mayberry Farm in Ocala, Florida, and arrived at Belmont last weekend. Both Ziconic (Tapit) and Cozmic One (Bernardini) are homebreds for Jerry and Ann Moss. "Zenyatta's colts are now both at Belmont Park with John Shirreffs," the Zenyatta.com post said. "Ziconic recently graduated from training at Mayberry Farm, where he was galloping every day and picking up speed. He arrived at Belmont over the weekend, joining his older brother Coz." Zenyatta also has a filly by Claiborne Farm's boom young stallion War Front whom she delivered at Easter last year. The remarkable Zenyatta (Street Cry-Vertigineux, by Kris S) won 19 races in a row including the 2008 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic and the 2009 Breeders' Cup Classic before suffering her only loss to Blame in her final start, the Breeders' Cup Classic of 2010. She retired with earnings of US$7,304,580, a record for a North American female.
