Temple of Boom Ready To Show Best
Trainer Tony Gollan says he is expecting an improved showing from veteran sprinter Temple Of Boom (Piccolo-Temple Spirit, by Special Dane) in Saturday's Gr1 10,000 (1350m) in Brisbane. Speaking on RSN radio yesterday, Gollan said the Gr1 Galaxy-winning 8YO was ready to produce his best after his two runs back from a spell in the Gr1 BTC Cup and Victory Stakes. "I'm really happy with him now. I wasn't so happy heading into the prep, I was just struggling to get him fit. But now that he's had the two runs he's really in top shape for Saturday," Gollan explained. "His work this morning [Tuesday] indicates he's right back on track. He was really sharp and his recovery was just super..certainly the best he's recovered from a gallop and the sharpest he's been [this prep]." Twenty-two horses have been nominated for the $750,000 event, and Gollan is confident that Temple Of Boom can return to the winner's circle if he can draw a decent gate. "I'd be as confident as anyone in the race if we draw a good barrier," he said. "I think they are a fairly even bunch of horses. With a good barrier and little bit of sting out of the track my bloke will be as good a chance as any." He added, "He's fit enough to win on Saturday and he'll also derive slight benefit heading to the Stradbroke. He's in great shape." Temple Of Boom, who is a half-brother to Eureka Thoroughbreds' dual Gr1 winning stallion Spirit Of Boom, has won 11 of his 57 starts hitherto for over $1.8 million prize money.
