That's A Good Idea Wins Listed Ortensia Stakes
At Scone in the NSW Hunter Valley, retired Arrowfield Stud stallion & former Australian Champion Sire Flying Spur (Danehill-Rolls, by Mr Prospector) added a black-type success when 5YO gelding That's A Good Idea (Flying Spur-Sunday Service, by Sunday Silence) scored by 0.8-length for trainers Peter & Paul Snowden in the $140,000 Listed Ortensia Stakes (1100m) for 3YO+, over fellow 5YO gelding Target In Sight (Nadeem-Xaaranthe, by Xaar) & 4YO mare Atmospherical (Northern Meteor-Faster Pussycat, by Flying Spur). This was a well deserved maiden stakes victory for the talented That's A Good Idea who took his record to 8 wins and 8 placings (including the Gr3 ATC Maurice McCarten Stakes & Listed ATC Lightning Handicap) from 27 starts for $514,240 earnings. That's A Good Idea was passed in for $90,000 at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Kitchwin Hills. Trainer Peter Snowden indicated That's A Good Idea could now head to Queensland for a tilt at the Gr2 QTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben but said he would not run on a wet track. "He's a handy horse," Snowden said. "But it's got to be a dry track or he won't go." The beautifully bred That's A Good Idea is a direct descendant of influential matriarch Natalma, dam of legendary stallion Northern Dancer and great grand-dam of the great Danehill.
