Tales Of Grimm Wins Listed Scone Cup

Monday, 18th May 2015

At Scone in the NSW Hunter Valley, talented 6YO US-bred gelding Tales Of Grimm (Distorted Humor-Stupendous Miss, by Dynaformer) registered his first stakes victory when scoring a hard fought 0.1-length win for young trainer Sam Kavanagh in the $200,000 Listed Scone Cup (1600m) for 3YO+, over 4YO geldings Frespanol (Choisir-Besame Mucho, by Encosta de Lago) & San Diego (Exceed and Excel-Del Mar, by Zabeel). Tales Of Grimm took his record to 4 wins and 2 placings (including the Gr3 Darley Stakes at Newmarket) from 20 start for $248,646 earnings. "We laid this horse out for this three months ago, so it is nice when a plan comes together," said Kavanagh. "He has shown us a lot at home and he has had his share of issues, but I have some great mates in this horse and some great supporters of the stable, so I am just thrilled to win a big race for them." By two-time Champion North American sire Distorted Humor from the Gr2-winning Dynaformer mare Stupendous Miss, Tales Of Grimm is a full-brother to Gr2 Zabeel Mile winner Do It All and is a direct descendant of South Ocean, dam of champion European racehorse Storm Bird.
