Dan Excel Wins Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup
At Kranji racecourse in Singapore, European champion 4-time Gr1-winning former Darley shuttler Shamardal (Giant's Causeway-Helsinki, by Machiavellian) celebrated a Gr1 success when Irish-bred 7YO gelding Dan Excel (Shamardal-Love Excelling, by Polish Precedent) scored by 0.5-length for trainer John Moore in the Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup (2000m), over fellow 7YO Irish-bred gelding Military Attack (Oratorio-Almaaseh, by Dancing Brave) & Argentinian-bred 4YO entire Quechua (Pure Prize-Queen Cabaret, by Wild Event). This was back to back International Cup victories for Dan Excel who took his record to 7 wins (including the 2014 Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup, Gr1 HKJC Champions Mile, Gr3 Irish 2,000 Guineas Trial & Gr3 Anglesey Stakes) and 14 placings (including the Gr1 HKJC Champions Mile, Gr1 HKJC Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup, Gr1 Hong Kong Gold Cup, Gr1 HKJC Stewards Cup – twice – and Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup) from 41 starts for €4,920,647 earnings.
