Monday, 18th May 2015

At Kranji racecourse in Singapore, Waikato Stud's Gr1 Australian Guineas-winning stallion Pins (Snippets-No Finer, by Kaoru Star) celebrated an overseas Gr1 success when 6YO gelding Aerovelocity (Pins-Exodus, by Kaapstad) scored by 1.5-lengths for trainer Paul O'Sullivan in the Gr1 Krisflyer International Sprint (1200m) for 3YO+, over 5YO Australian-bred gelding Emperor Max (Holy Roman Emperor-Maxerelle, by Strategic) & 8YO Irish-bred gelding Lucky Nine (Dubawi-Birjand, by Green Desert). This was the third Gr1 victory for Aerovelocity who took his record to 10 wins (including the Gr1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen, Gr1 Hong Kong Sprint, Gr2 Premier Bowl Handicap & Gr3 Sha Tin Vase) and 5 placings (including the Gr1 Chairman's Sprint Prize) from 18 starts for NZ$4,853,279 earnings. "It is more a relief than a thrill to win as we are a long way from home," said O'Sullivan. "He might have won with a little bit in hand as he was sitting pretty, so we are just relieved.
