Black Heart Bart Ready For Gr1 Test
Meanwhile, highly progressive Perth sprinter Black Heart Bart (Blackfriars-Sister Theresa, by At Talaq) could to start favourite for Saturday's Gr1 Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville after being well backed into $4.60, reports horseracing.com.au. Black Heart Bart is undoubtedly one of West Australia's most progressive gallopers, having won 7 of his 18 starts including a last-start 5.25-length romp in the Listed Bunbury Stakes (1400m) in March. Trainer Vaughn Sigley says he has been delighted with the progress the Blackfriars gelding has made this preparation, and is confident he can acquit himself well at his first attempt at Gr1 level. "He deserves his chance at a race like this," Sigley told Sky's Racing HQ. "He carried 61 kilos that day when he won with five and a half and he has just really hit his straps. He is a horse that has come on and he took a while to mature." he added, "We are looking forward to it and hopefully he is good enough to perform at the top level." Hucklebuck is the current favourite for the Goodwood at $4.40, ahead of Black Heart Bart ($4.60), Lucky Hussler ($6) and smart Victorian galloper Under The Louvre ($8.50). Black Heart Bart certainly has the pedigree to be a serious racehorse, being out of a half-sister to New Zealand Oaks winner Savannah Success, dam of Cox Plate winner and outstanding young stallion Savabeel.
