Werther Thriving Ahead of Second Derby Tilt
Kiwi 3YO Werther (Tavistock-Bagalollies, by Zabeel) will continue his Australian travels on Friday when he flies to Brisbane to prepare for the Gr1 Queensland Derby at Doomben on 6 June, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Gr2-winning son of Tavistock is currently in Melbourne following his brave second behind star filly Delicacy in the Gr1 South Australian Derby on Saturday. "He's been in the paddock since his last run and he's doing really well," trainer Andrew Campbell said. "We weren't going to go to Brisbane, but thought why not have a crack when he's in such good form." Campbell said a rider for Werther in the Queensland Derby had yet to be confirmed.
