Starspangledbanner Fee Set

Thursday, 14th May 2015

Starspangledbanner (Choisir-Gold Anthem, by Made of Gold), who stands at Rosemont in Victoria, has had his fee set for the 2015 season. The son of Choisir, who initially had well documented fertility issues, will stand at $44,000 (inc GST) after an extraordinary start to his stallion career. With four stakes performers in Europe already and a Group-winning emerging star in Australia in the form of Of The Brave, Starspangledbanner will stand his third season at Rosemont after an aborted stud career at part-owner Coolmore on his racetrack retirement. His performance in Europe has been even more impressive with 13 individual winners from a crop of just 30...amongst them four stakes performers including Gr1 winner The Wow Signal & Gr2 winner Anthem Alexander. Already he looks set to become a sire of sires with The Wow Signal retired to stud duties and will shuttle to Victoria in 2015. Starspangledbanner will be represented at Royal Ascot by two of his Stakes winners with Home of the Brave heading to the Gr1 Commonwealth Cup for a group of Australian owners. Meanwhile, Anthem Alexander, a brilliant winner at Ascot last year in the Gr2 Queen Mary Stakes will return for a crack at the same race and also holds a an entry for the Gr1 July Cup. "He looks like he is going to be a high end stallion and the hard work getting mares in foal might pay considerable dividends," said Anthony Mithen of Rosemont. "He's got about 22 live weanlings and got 38 mares in foal last spring and is going well covering mares to Northern time currently, so we think the risk versus reward balance is well reflected in his $44,000 covering fee. He is filling up super-fast with a couple of big local breeders already booking in 6 and 5 mares respectively."
