Star Of Seville Wins Gr3 Musidora Stakes

Thursday, 14th May 2015

On the opening day of the Dante meeting at York in the UK, former 5-time Gr1-winning Coolmore shuttler Duke Of Marmalade (Danehill-Love Me True, by Kingmambo) added a Group success when 3YO filly Star Of Seville (Duke of Marmalade-Stage Presence, by Selkirk) led throughout to score by a head for trainer John Gosden in the Gr3 Musidora Stakes (10 furlongs) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Together Forever (Galileo-Green Room, by Theatrical) & Pandora (Galileo-Song of My Heart, by Footstepsinthesand). This was the first stakes victory for the talented Star Of Seville who took her record to 3 wins from 4 starts. Star Of Seville will now head to the Gr1 English Oaks (12 furlongs) at Epsom on 5 June. Trainer John Gosden told Racing Post: "She is still learning and is a bit inexperienced. What we wanted was an even pace. We didn't want a fiddle, fiddle, fiddle sprint...I think she was getting very lonely in front. I don't think she will have any problem with a mile and a half or Epsom."
