Carnival Plans For Exciting Snapshot

Wednesday, 13th May 2015

Trainer Graham Richardson has a tentative Gr1 plan in the new season for the unbeaten Snapshot (Stravinsky-Snap, by Kingdom Bay), reports NZ Racing Desk. The Matamata horseman will give the 4YO one more start before a break and then look toward the spring carnival at Hastings. "I'll give him a run on Saturday at Te Rapa, he should get better footing there, and then tip him out," Richardson said. "He won't be out for too long though and then we'll bring him back for a run before we think about Hastings. It's up to weight-for-age and while it could be a year too soon for him, the 1400 metres of the first one (the Gr1 Makfi Challenge Stakes) would be ideal." He added, "He's a tough horse and we'll just wait and see what happens between now and then." A son of former top-class Kiwi mare Snap, Snapshot won on debut at Te Aroha in the spring and struck again at Rotorua before a break. He maintained his perfect record with a Rating 75 victory at Ellerslie last month. "I've taken my time with him as he was a December foal and then he went shin sore three or four months ago," Richardson said. Snapshot was bred by Henrietta Duchess of Bedford, who races him with a syndicate that includes All Black captain Richie McCaw.
