Dark Jewel Option For Promising Najoom

Tuesday, 12th May 2015

Brilliant Hawkesbury Guineas winner Najoom is a chance of backing up in the $200,000 Gr3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at Scone on Saturday, reports horseracing.com.au. The 3YO Northern Meteor filly registered her maiden stakes victory when scoring a resounding 3.8-length win in the Gr3 Hawkesbury Guineas(1400m) at Rosehill last weekend, taking her overall record to 4 wins from 6 starts. "Gai will assess how she is during the week but there is the option to back up at Scone," trainer Gai Waterhouse's racing manager Adrian Bott said. "She is a much-improved filly and the decision to run in the Guineas has paid off." Najoom, who hails from the same family as multiple Gr1 winner Criterion, races in the same green and white silks as Golden Slipper winner Mossfun for owners Emirates Park who purchased her for $225,000 at the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Willow Park Stud.
