Twilight Eclipse Wins Gr1 Man o' War Stakes

At Belmont Park in the US, 6YO gelding Twilight Eclipse (Purim-My Twilight Dancer, by Twilight Agenda) earned a well-deserved top-flight victory when scoring by a neck for trainer Thomas Albertrani in the US$400,000 Gr1 Man o' War Stakes (11 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 5YO entire War Dancer (War Front-Deed I Do, by Alydeed) & 8YO entire Hyper (Victory Gallop-Raw Nerve, by Nureyev).  Twilight Eclipse, who had the misfortune of running into champion turf male Main Sequence in four consecutive Gr1 races last season, took his record to 7 wins (including the Gr2 Mac Diarmida Stakes) and 9 placings (including the Gr1 Sword Dancer Invitational Stakes & Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf) from 24 starts for US$1,587,986 earnings. "It's been very satisfying for everybody that's involved and for his connections to (finally) get that grade I," trainer Tom Albertrani told Blood Horse. "I know we've been beaten in a couple of spots, but he shows up every time. I think (in previous races), the horses were just that good; you know you have horses like Main Sequence. Without a horse like (that) in the race, this horse looks like a champion himself..."
