Solicit Wins Gr3 Darley Crown

Monday, 11th May 2015

At Rosehill Gardens in Sydney, Darley's deceased Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a Group success when 4YO mare Solicit (Street Cry-Princesa, by Danehill) scored by 0.2-length for trainer Gerald Ryan in the $150,000 Gr3 Darley Crown (1300m) for 3YO+ f&m, over 5YO mare Peace Force (Bernardini-Marrego, by Marscay) & fellow 4YO mare Calming Influence (Commands-Calming, by Zeditave). This was a welcome return to form by the Contract Racing-owned Solicit who had not been in the winner's circle since winning the Gr2 Kewney Stakes in March last year. She took her overall record to 5 wins (including the Gr2 Kewney Stakes & Gr3 Vanity Stakes) & 6 placings (including the Gr1 VRC Oaks, Gr2 VRC Wakeful Stakes, Gr2 Edward Manifold Stakes & Listed Ethereal Stakes) from 21 starts for $759, 850 earnings. Solicit is from the stakes-winning Danehill mare Princesa, herself a daughter of Gr1 winner Kapchat, and is a half-sister to Gr2-winning sprinting mare Star Of Giselle.
