Silent Achiever Retired

Monday, 11th May 2015

Meanwhile, trainer Roger James has confirmed that outstanding New Zealand mare Silent Achiever (O'Reilly-Winning Spree, by Zabeel) has been retired after finishing tenth in Saturday's Gr1 Doomben Cup. The 6YO daughter of O'Reilly will be remembered as one of the best Kiwi mares of the modern era winning 10 of her 36 starts for over $3.1 million prize money, highlighted by four Gr1 victories in the New Zealand Derby, New Zealand Stakes, Ranvet Stakes and The BMW. She was also Gr1-placed on three occasions, including in last year's Cox Plate where she finished third to Irish colt Adelaide. Owned by New Zealander Kevin Hickman, Silent Achiever will now embark on her new career as a broodmare which will include a trip to Europe for a mating with the world's highest-ever rated racehorse, Frankel. Earlier this year Hickman commented: "We will breed her to New Zealand time and she will be over there [Europe] for up to two years. We have a good stud over there who will look after her and if things go well she will also visit Galileo and possibly Sea The Stars - that's what we are looking at."
