Ervedya Wins Gr1 French 1,000 Guineas

Monday, 11th May 2015

At Longchamp in the France overnight, 3YO French filly Ervedya (Siyouni-Elva, by King's Best) secured the biggest win of her career when arriving with a late surge to score by 0.75-length for trainer Jean-Claude Rouget in the Gr1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (8 furlongs) for 3YO fillies, over 3YO Irish-bred filly Irish Rookie (Azamour-Bold Assumption, by Observatory) & 3YO US-bred filly Mexican Gold (Medaglia d'Oro-Hachita, by Gone West). This was the first Gr1 victory for Ervedya who took her record to 5 wins (including the Gr3 Prix Imprudence) and 2 placings (including the Gr1 Prix Marcel Boussac) from 7 starts. Ervedya's next target may be the Gr1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot on the 19 June. "She has Group 1 acceleration, is easy to train and easy to ride," trainer Jean-Claude Rouget told Racing Post. "She didn't get away all that well but that wasn't too serious and Christophe had her nicely hidden away. I think she is a 1,600 metre filly and the Coronation Stakes is a strong possibility."
