McDonald Suffers Injury

Thursday, 7th May 2015

James McDonald could be in doubt for his Gr1 rides at Doomben on Saturday after sustaining a knee injury in trackwork on Tuesday, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Sydney-based Kiwi jockey was released from rides at Warwick Farm yesterday and Gosford today after injuring a hamstring ligament when his mount veered out sharply in a routine gallop. McDonald said he thought it was a harmless incident but sought medical advice when he was unable to stand and put pressure on the knee that afternoon. "It's not good at the moment. I can't put any pressure on it. I had it scanned and the doctor said there was damage to the hamstring ligament down to the knee and told me just to do the usual and ice it and rest. I'm hoping to be back to ride on Saturday but we'll just have see," he said. McDonald has been booked to ride Foreteller in the Gr1 Doomben Cup and Knoydart for Godolphin in the Gr1 BTC Cup this weekend.
