Found Beaten On Comeback

Tuesday, 5th May 2015

Top-class Coolmore filly Found, who spent much of the winter as pre-post favourite for the English 1,000 Guineas, suffered a shock defeat on her racetrack return when beaten by 25-1 outsider Iveagh Gardens in the Gr3 Athasi Stakes (7 furlongs) at the Curragh overnight. Found, winner of the Gr1 Prix Marcel Bousacc at Longchamp in October, was expected to make a successful reappearance despite missing the Guineas because of a setback, but it would appear that her lack of fitness counted against her in the end. "When you get ground like that there aren't many that can handle it and she doesn't just handle it, she enjoys it," Iveagh Gardens' trainer Charles O'Brien told Racing Post. "Where we go is very dependent on the weather. Travelling again is an option, it's something we might have to do." Found's trainer Aiden O'Brien said the Galileo filly would head towards the Irish 1,000 Guineas, for which her Guineas-winning stable-mate Legatissimo is favourite.
