Browne Booked For Platinum Witness

Tuesday, 5th May 2015

Top-class Kiwi filly Platinum Witness (California Dane-Chartreuse, by St. Petersburg) will be ridden by Damian Browne in her two-start Brisbane campaign, reports NZ Racing Desk. Trainer Lisa Latta confirmed the expatriate Kiwi jockey had been booked to ride the 3YO in the Gr2 The Roses on 23 May, and in the $500,000 Gr1 Queensland Oaks a week later. The winner of the New Zealand 1,000 Guineas in the spring, Platinum Witness hasn't raced since finishing a game second behind Savaria in the New Zealand Oaks. Latta said Platinum Witness had freshened well and was in good order to resume at Arawa Park on Saturday. She will be nominated for both the Listed Windsor Park Stud Rotorua Stakes over 1400 metres and the Rating 85 handicap over 1560m. "It's not really about the Listed race as it wouldn't help her value any and I'll be guided by the weather as to which race she runs in," Latta said. "I'm really happy with her and she won a jump-out nicely a week ago here at Awapuni." Platinum Witness will be ridden at Rotorua by Darryl Bradley, who has been aboard the filly in all four of her wins and 11 of her 14 career starts.
