Legatissimo Wins Gr1 English 1,000 Guineas

Monday, 4th May 2015

At Newmarket in the UK, former Coolmore shuttler Danehill Dancer (Danehill-Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) celebrated a Gr1 success when 3YO filly Legatissimo (Danehill Dancer-Yummy Mummy, by Montjeu) scored a stong finishing 0.75-length win for trainer David Wachman in the Gr1 English 1,000 Guineas (8 furlongs) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Luicda (Shamardal-Lura, by Street Cry) & Tiggy Wiggy (Kodiac-Kheleyf's Silver, by Kheleyf). Legatissimo, who gave jockey Ryan Moore a Classic double after Gleneagle's victory in the 2,000 Guineas, took her record to 3 wins (including the Listed Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes) and 1 placing from 6 starts for £275,937 earnings. "She's a lovely, big scopy filly and Ryan gave her a nice ride. We've always liked her and we weren't concerned coming back in trip," trainer David Wachman told Racing Post. "We were worried we were running her back too quickly but we thought we'd take our chance. She'll get further but we'll discuss where we go next. She's a very good filly."
