Landlocked Wins Listed Wagga Wagga Gold Cup
At Wagga in the New South Wales Riverina, Cambridge Stud's retired Champion sire Zabeel (Sir Tristram-Lady Giselle, by Nureyev) added a black-type success when 8YO gelding Landlocked (Zabeel-Secover, by Danehill) scored by 1-length for trainer Joe Cleary in the $140,000 Listed Wagga Wagga Gold Cup (2000m) for 3YO+, over 5YO gelding Faust (Librettist-Recce, by Spectacular Love) & 4YO mare Gypsy Diamond (Not a Single Doubt-Gypsy Tucker, by Zabeel). This was the first stakes victory for the talented Landlocked who took his record to 9 wins and 2 placings from 29 starts for $244,990 earnings. Bred by Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud, Landlocked is out of the Danehill mare Secover and is a direct descendant of celebrated blue hen Denise's Joy. This is one of the most sought after families in the stud book and includes the likes of More Joyous, Tuesday Joy, Sunday Joy, Thorn Park, Light Up The World and this season's Gr1 Vinery Stud Stakes winner Fenway.
