Kingman & Frankel To Serve Southern Hemisphere Time
Champion miler Kingman will cover mares to southern hemisphere time this year for a fee of £45,000, reports racingpost.com. The outstanding Kingman (Invincible Spirit-Zenda, by Zamindar), who retired in October after a stellar season that yielded four Gr1 victories in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, St James's Palace Stakes (see below), Sussex Stakes and Prix Jacques le Marois, as well as Cartier Horse of the Year honours, began his first season at stud this year at owner-breeder Khalid Abdullah's Banstead Manor Stud near Newmarket at a fee of £55,000. Fellow champion and undefeated ten-time Gr1 winner Frankel (Galileo-Kind, by Danehill), will also be available to breeders for southern hemisphere-time coverings, standing for an unchanged fee of £100,000. Juddmonte nominations executive James O'Donnell said that Frankel's first yearlings indicated he had all the attributes to be a success in both hemispheres. "Having seen most of his first-crop yearlings, I feel very confident that Frankel has given his stock the size, strength, scope and incredible attitude that will stand them in particularly good stead in both hemispheres," he said.
