Magnus Half To Derby Winner At MM National Weanling

Tuesday, 14th April 2015

May's Magic Millions National Weanling Sale has had a most interesting addition, one sure to garner interest from a wide spectrum of the thoroughbred fraternity. By All Too Hard and Black Caviar's close relation, Magnus (himself a Gr1-performed sprinter), Tasmania's Grenville Stud has entered a colt half-brother to recent Gr1 NZ Derby and Gr1 ATC Derby hero Mongolian Khan who was also offered by Grenville as a weanling. The duo is out of Centafit, a mare by Centaine, one of the best broodmare sires in Australia and New Zealand, and Grenville principal Graeme McCulloch says the Magnus colt has similar attributes to his high profile sibling. To be held at the Gold Coast on May 24 & 25, the National Weanling Sale achieved a 68 percent increase in the sale average ($43,559) in 2014, headlined by a Lonhro filly that fetched a record $710,000.
