Son Of Snaps Wins Debut

Thursday, 27th November 2014

Blue-blooded 4YO gelding Snapshot scored an impressive debut victory at Te Aroha yesterday for a group of high profile owners that includes All Blacks captain Richie McCaw, reports NZ Racing Desk. Snapshot, by Stravinsky out of 4-time Gr1-winning Kiwi mare Snap, races for a syndicate that comprises McCaw, former All Black Ali Williams, breeder Henrietta Duchess of Bedford, Berri Schroder and Will Rouse out of the Matamata stable of trainer Graham Richardson. "It's great for racing. Everyone is important in this game," Richardson said of Snapshot's narrow 1200m win over Wealth Prince and Somethingvain. "That was a gutsy effort and he's got no idea what he's doing. He's got a lot of improvement to come and we've given him plenty of time." He added, "He could go through the grades on that - onwards and upwards." Snapshot is the eighth foal to make it to the racetrack for 24YO Kingdom Bay mare Snap, who proved herself one of the best New Zealand mares of the modern era winning the Gr1 New Zealand Oaks, Gr1 NZ 1,000 Guineas, Gr1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes & Gr1 Waikato Sprint. Snap also has an unraced 3YO filly by Cambridge Stud's promising young sire Tavistock.
