Dissident To Stand At Newgate

Tuesday, 25th November 2014

Newgate Farm has confirmed that triple Gr1 winner Dissident will join its stallion roster for the 2015 breeding season, reports breednet.com.au. "We bought him about a month ago and are in the process of syndicating him into 50 shares," said Newgate's sales and bloodstock manager, Tony Williams. "He is a horse we are absolutely delighted to have on board and believe he will be a huge asset for Newgate in the future." The 4YO son of Golden Slipper winner Sebring became his sire's first stakes winner when landing the Listed MRC Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) on debut, before training on at three and four to establish himself as one of the best gallopers in the country, with top-flight victories in the Randwick Guineas (at three) during the autumn and the Memsie Stakes (1400m) and Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) in the spring. "At this stage the plan is to leave him with Peter Moody to race on in the autumn," Williams revealed. "We believe he is at his best from 1400 metres to a mile so he will target races such as the Group I Orr Stakes(February 14) and Futurity Stakes (February 28) in Melbourne." He added, "Sydney is a possibility and a race like the All Aged Stakes (April 25) might well suit." Dissident is a direct female line descendent of stakes-winning New Zealand mare Helen Of Troy, grand-dam of Caulfield Cup winner Imposera and her Spring Champion Stakes-winning brother Imprimatur.
