American Pharoah Out Of BC Juvenile

Wednesday, 29th October 2014

Trainer Bob Baffert has confirmed that exciting 3YO American Pharoah will be scratched from the Breeders' Cup Juvenile this weekend, reports bloodhorse.com. The Pioneerof the Nile colt was coming off back-to-back victories in the Gr1 FrontRunner Stakes and the Gr1 Del Mar Futurity. Baffert said American Pharoah was withdrawn from the Juvenile because of what he suspected was a "deep bruise" in his left front foot. He said it was discovered after the colt's workout on Monday. "It was a great work but he wasn't 100% afterward," Baffert said. "We were working on the foot but I wasn't really comfortable with it, so we X-rayed him and did an ultrasound. Everything was clean, so we're hoping it's just a bruise." He added, "He's getting better day to day but he's too valuable and we don't want to risk it."
