Tatts October Book-3: Strong Early Demand

Friday, 17th October 2014

Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale has started with a flourish, with 17 lots selling for 50,000 guineas or more and the six-figure barrier broken for the first time ever at the sale. A total of 269 lots were sold for 5,516,250 guineas at an average of 20,507 guineas and a median of 16,000 guineas. The clearance on the opening day was 88%. The top lot on the opening day of the sale was a Cacique colt catalogued as Lot 1427 that was knocked down to Blandford Bloodstock's Tom Goff for 100,000 guineas. The son of the Cape Cross mare Bantu received a most timely catalogue update when Banzari, his half-sister by Motivator, won her maiden at her third start by 10-lengths on Wednesday at Nottingham.
