Inglis Ready2Race: Fastnet Colt Sets New Record
At yesterday's Inglis Ready2Race Sale held in Sydney, a colt by current Australian General Sires Table leader Fastnet Rock topped proceedings when selling for $360,000, a new record price for the breeze up sale. Offered from the draft of Glastonbury Farms, the son of US stakes-winner Dakota Sue (Pollard's Vision) was bought by a client of Hong Kong trainer Manfred Man. "The buying from Hong Kong, Singapore and Macau was strong in the middle to upper market, as were local Australian buyers. We sold almost three times as many horses to Hong Kong as last year, including the top priced colt," noted Inglis managing director Mark Webster. The clearance rate exceeded the respective figure at the end of sale day in 2013 and is expected to continue to rise like last year as private sales filter through this week. The average finished at $71,398, with 23 lots selling for $100,000 or more at this year's Ready2Race Sale, only one shy of last year's 24 that were recorded from a larger catalogue.
