Impressive South Africa Winner For Redoute's
Australian-bred colt Tabreek looked a very smart prospect in the making when scoring an impressive debut victory in the All To Come 2YO Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m) at Scottsville in South Africa overnight. Trained by champion South African trainer Mike de Kock, Tabreek settled just off the pace and travelled strongly under stable jockey Anthony Delpech before sprinting clear at the 200m to win eased down by 3-lengths over fellow colts Bruno (Dynasty) and Moi Power (Brave Tin Soldier). Tabreek, who races in the royal blue and white silks of Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell racing operation, was a $720,000 purchase at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Glenn Burrows' Willow Park Stud. By Arrowfield Stud's champion sire Redoute's Choice, Tabreek is out of the Gr2-winning New Zealand mare Zarzuela, a Zabeel half-sister to brilliant juvenile filly Satin Shoes. Zarzuela was also third in a New Zealand Oaks and finished fourth behind Military Move in the New Zealand Derby, so Tabreek should appreciate stepping up in distance in time. Both Zarzuela and Satin Shoes are out of the talented Volksraad mare Star Satire, winner of the Gr1 Maori Stakes (1600m) and Gr3 Lowland Stakes (2100m).
