Shea Shea Out Of July

Wednesday, 25th June 2014

Globetrotting sprinter Shea Shea has been withdrawn from the Gr1 July Cup at Newmarket after suffering a bleeding attack during the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, reports racingpost.com. Trainer Mike de Kock said Shea Shea, who finished a disappointing 11th in the King's Stand, would be rested before being aimed at the Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York in August. De Kock said on Monday: "He did bleed [at Ascot] and we have given him a short spell to try to get the lungs to repair. He has been on the go for quite a while and he is a year older, it is not getting easier to keep him going. I am hoping he will be able to run in the Nunthorpe."
