QLD Cup For Inventor

Tuesday, 24th June 2014

Tattersall's Cup winner The Inventor (Danasinga-Inventions, by Timber Country) will have his next start in the $150,000 Listed Queensland Cup (3200m) at Eagle Farm on 5 July, reports horseracing.com.au. The Inventor impressed trainer Bevan Laming when he won in restricted class over 2150m at Ipswich on Ipswich Cup two weeks ago but knew the 5YO needed another hit-out to have him at peak fitness for the testing two-mile journey of the Queensland Cup. Consequently Laming decided to run The Inventor in last Saturday's Gr3 Tattersall's Cup (2200m) at Eagle Farm where he scored an upset win as the 40-1 outsider. "The plan was to go to the Queensland Cup after winning last week [at Ipswich], but it would have been three weeks between runs, so I decided to back him up," Laming said after the Tattersall's Cup win. "He came here to get the miles in his legs. I did give him some hope though because his time wasn't far off the Ipswich Cup last week and his sectional was better."
