Tick Tick Bloom Wins Listed Belmont Guineas
At Belmont in West Australia, Oakland Park Stud's triple Gr1-winning stallion Viscount (Quest for Fame-Antwerp, by Sir Tristram) added a black-type success when 3YO filly Tick Tick Bloom (Viscount-Eight Roses, by Bellotto) stormed home from last to score by 0.05-length for trainer Adam Durrant in the $100,000 Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m) for 3YOs, over fellow 3YO filly Midnight Shimmer (Blackfriars-Yule Dancer, by Carnegie) & 3YO colt Happy With Kendel (Kendel Star-Happy With That, by Metal Storm). This was the first stakes success for the talented Tick Tick Bloom who improved her record to 4 wins and 1 placing from 8 starts for $115,290 earnings. "It was very impressive," Adam Durrant's stable foreman Jason Miller told The West Australian. "I thought she had no hope on the turn. With the wide draw our confidence wasn't high. We knew she'd have to give them about eight lengths on the turn." He added, "She was stepping up from midweek company in a tough field but she's adapted and won well." Tick Tick Bloom will attempt to emulate Summah's Touch who claimed the Belmont Guineas, Belmont Oaks (2000m) and Belmont Classic (2200m) treble last year.
