Gollan Poised For First Title

Wednesday, 18th June 2014

Tony Gollan is on the brink of capping a successful Brisbane winter carnival with his first Queensland trainers' premiership, reports theinformant.co.nz. With only six weeks of the season remaining, Gollan's feature race double with Alma's Fury (Eye Liner Stakes) and Brave Ali (Ipswich Cup) on Saturday boosted his winning tally to 48 for the season. Robert Heathcote also had a double on Saturday and is on 42.5 with Matt Dunn next best on 40. Gollan's winter string has won more than $1.2 million prize-money with stable stars Spirit of Boom (Doomben 10,000), Temple of Boom (Victory Stakes), and Amexed (Rough Habit Plate) leading the way. "Things have been going well but in this business you never take anything for granted," Gollan said. Dual Gr1-winner Spirit Of Boom has left the stable to commence stallion duties at Eureka Stud but Gollan still has his half-brother and fellow Gr1-winner, Temple Of Boom, to look forward to in the spring.
