Amicus In Search Of Black-Type

Thursday, 27th March 2014

Beautifully bred filly Amicus will be aimed at a stakes race during the Sydney autumn carnival after scoring an impressive win in the Hyland Race Colours Plate (1150m) at Kensington yesterday. Amicus, who debuted with a fast-finishing third behind stakes-placed filly Tetsuko at the same track three weeks ago, showed the benefit of race experience by bolting up by 5.5 lengths over fellow fillies Eleivue and Serene Express. Trainer Chris Waller said the $500,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast graduate could now be aimed at the Gr3 Royal Randwick Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on 19 April on the second day of The Championships. "I thought she would be a chance of running in a Listed or Group fillies' race during the carnival," Waller told TVN. "But if we're going to go there, then I thought we better put her under a bit of pressure and today was a good time to try." Amicus is by Fastnet Rock from the El Moxie mare Gold Chant, making her a half-sister to the talented Peter Moody-trained colt Il Cavallo. Gold Chant is a half-sister to dual hemisphere Gr1-winning sprinter and sire Starspangledbanner from the Made Of Gold mare Gold Anthem. This is the family of Australian Oaks winner Circles Of Gold and her Gr1-winning sire sons Elvstroem and Haradasun.
