Inglis Premier Session One Summary: Strong 81% Clearance Rate
Not since the Melbourne Premier Class of 2008, which included Black Caviar, Starspangledbanner and Reward for Effort, has the Premier breached the $80,000 average mark, but record demand across the first three days has helped to push all major indicators north again. So far 441 yearlings have been sold at an average of $84,115 (10 per cent increase on 2013's $76,302) while the clearance rate has leapt 5 per cent. The median has highlighted the strong spine of the sale, rising by an impressive 17 per cent to $70,000 on 2013's figure of $60,000. The fourth and final day of the 2014 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale commences at 10.30am this morning with 158 lots set to go under the hammer in what looms as a dynamic Session 2.
